This presentation will provide an introductory overview of behavioral interventions in AAC for ASD. AAC supplements or replaces spoken language through alternative forms of communication. Low tech and high tech forms of AAC will be reviewed including manual sign language, Picture Exchange Communication Systems, and speech-generating devices. Participants will review behavioral AAC strategies to develop functional communication and facilitate natural speech production. Common AAC myths will be dispelled.
